An Overview of Our Divorce and Family Law Practice

At the law office of Terzich & Ort, LLP, we focus our entire practice on the family law needs of men and women in the 13-county metropolitan area in and around Minneapolis-St. Paul. Our Practice

We work with individuals at all stages of a divorce in Minnesota, from the decision to file to post-judgment requests for modification or enforcement. We handle a broad range of legal issues arising out of divorce or paternity matters, including

  • child custody and visitation. We will work closely with you to help you identify and implement custody arrangements that are in the best interests of your children while protecting your rights as a parent. We will also help you put visitation or parenting plans in place that take into consideration the education, medical and other special needs of your children.
  • child support. We review all proposed child support orders for compliance with Minnesota guidelines and to determine whether all relevant sources of income have been included in the calculation. See our child support page to learn more.
  • spousal maintenance or alimony. We will help you establish whether a grant of alimony is warranted and, if so, the appropriate amount and duration of payments. For additional information, go to our page on spousal maintenance.
  • property matters. We handle all issues related to the equitable distribution of marital property, from real estate and personal property to retirement or business assets. We also provide guidance to clients in cases involving complex asset division.
  • paternity actions. We will represent either party in legal action to establish paternity. We will also handle any visitation, custody or support issues that result from the determination.
  • domestic violence and orders for protection. We advocate on behalf of either party in legal action to put in place a restraining order or other order for protection.
