Shannon Ort co-founded Terzich & Ort, LLP, and focuses her entire practice on family law. She takes a direct approach and prides herself on her ability to bring clarity to clients during some of the most stressful times of their lives.
Shannon graduated magna cum laude from Hamline University with a degree in criminal justice and legal studies. She subsequently earned her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. Before co-founding Terzich & Ort, she worked as an associate at Rider Bennett in Minneapolis, where she gained valuable experience in family law.
Shannon holds licenses to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and federal courts. She belongs to the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association. She also takes part in the Family Law Section and serves as a Rule 114 Qualified Neutral in family law cases.

Shannon has received several recognitions throughout her legal career. She earned the Super Lawyers title of “Rising Star” in Minnesota for six years and has been named a Super Lawyer for nine years in a row. Minnesota Monthly Magazine listed her as one of the state’s top attorneys in 2014. In 2016 and 2017, she made the list of the Top 50 Women Super Lawyers in Minnesota. Best Lawyers named her Lawyer of the Year in Minnesota for 2023. She also appeared in Marquis Who’s Who and was named a Top 40 Under 40 by the American Society of Legal Advocates.
Shannon has spoken at local law schools about family law and legal careers. Several legal publications have featured her work and achievements, including Marquis Who’s Who and multiple legal magazines across Minnesota.
When she’s not working, Shannon likes to give back through volunteer work. She takes part in the Hennepin County Unbundled Legal Program, where she offers limited-scope services to people who might not need full legal representation. She also volunteers at Anoka County Law Day to help educate the public about the legal system.
